BIONIC MOBILE ASSISTANT

Balancing on a single sphere, the FESTO Ballbot explores a new freedom in robotics. The BionicMobileAssistant brings mobility, intelligent interaction and a human-inspired hand together. Our design gives this experimental technology a distinctive presence, opening a window into the future of collaboration between people and robots.

Form Follows Curiosity

Our starting point was the interplay of advanced tech and human interaction. We explored how body, arm and hand could form one expressive character. A bionic yet clearly defined form language within the skeletal design became the defining idea. Revealing technology within while giving the robot a light, dynamic and approachable appearance.

Innovation Takes Shape

During 3D development, we refined the relationship between flowing surfaces, sculpted openings and visible mechanics. Each transition helped connect the mobile body and articulated arm into a coherent whole. Close dialogue with the development team allowed us to preserve the expressive design while giving the prototype its tangible form.

The Future Within Reach

The collaboration with FESTO and ETH Zurich brought an ambitious vision to life. The BionicMobileAssistant demonstrates how autonomous movement and adaptive grasping can come together in a mobile robotic assistant. Our design makes that potential visible, giving a pioneering research project a memorable identity and inviting curiosity about what comes next.

Concept Validation

Model making brought the Ballbot’s unusual proportions and open architecture into the physical world. As body, arm and hand came together, the design could be experienced as a whole.
